The Fourth of July is especially dear to my family. For us, it is not just our nation's birthday. It is the day Michelle and I became parents 12 years ago. And I can't wait to watch the fireworks with Malia on her birthday tonight, as we do every year.

As we celebrate the profound pride of being American, today is a time to honor the women and men in our armed forces, whose immeasurable bravery and sacrifice have made our country what it is today.

That sacrifice is shared with husbands and wives, with sons and daughters, with fathers and mothers, who are asked to wait at home as their loved ones protect our nation. Their heroism, too, has helped pave the path of our freedom.

Even before we moved into the White House, Michelle was a champion for those military families. She has witnessed their struggles, and she has made it her personal mission to fight for them. On this Fourth of July, she recorded a personal message, commemorating our nation's birthday and paying tribute to these families.

The Fourth of July is especially dear to my family. For us, it is not just our nation's birthday. It is the day Michelle and I became parents 12 years ago. And I can't wait to watch the fireworks with Malia on her birthday tonight, as we do every year.

As we celebrate the profound pride of being American, today is a time to honor the women and men in our armed forces, whose immeasurable bravery and sacrifice have made our country what it is today.

That sacrifice is shared with husbands and wives, with sons and daughters, with fathers and mothers, who are asked to wait at home as their loved ones protect our nation. Their heroism, too, has helped pave the path of our freedom.

Even before we moved into the White House, Michelle was a champion for those military families. She has witnessed their struggles, and she has made it her personal mission to fight for them. On this Fourth of July, she recorded a personal message, commemorating our nation's birthday and paying tribute to these families.

Those choices insure the freedoms that we have. Get out and vote. read the daily paper; get on the internet and chech out other new services there CNN. there CBS; MBC; AND ABC. Not to mencion blogsthere are a lot of information out there do be had so you can make the most inform choices and if nothing else look on youtube it will give you some information too good and bad. if your not register to vote Please do that today. don't wait till it to late; our form of goverment and our freedom are at stake. but i know you'll make the right choice.

I wanted to make sure you saw this message. The president's deficit commission met yesterday to develop recommendations for fixing the federal deficit, and Social Security is still a prime target for cuts.

Social Security didn't cause the deficit, so it shouldn't be cut to fix it. It's up to us to keep the pressure on Congress and protect our hard earned retirement benefits – but we need your help.

For 75 years, seniors have been able to count on Social Security benefits, even in the toughest times. That's why I'm so concerned about the deficit commission's meeting next week.

The commission has been charged with balancing the nation's budget – and, under pressure to find cuts in federal spending, Social Security is a prime target.

Social Security didn't cause the deficit – these benefits shouldn't be cut to fix it.

Last night, just before 7 p.m. Eastern Time, the House passed Wall Street reform by a vote of 237 to 192. This is a huge victory for our movement -- and all American consumers.

Now, there's just one hurdle left before this historic bill can be signed into law. It must be passed by the Senate -- a vote likely to come right after the July 4th congressional recess.

Protecting consumers and holding the big banks accountable is a key piece of the change that all of us fought for in 2008. It's up to us to bring it across the finish line -- making sure every champion in the Senate knows that we're standing with them, and that those in opposition know that Americans are demanding reform.

The Republican party believes that business should run the government and they obstruct or water down any thing that puts regulations on the way they do business like Wall Street; If our government can't or won't govern or even bring new ideas to the table then there use less as a body. And IF we allow them to do what ever they want because a Representatives or Senators has his or her hand in there pocket; and doesn't give a damn about the people that Elected him or her to office then we have a major problem.With out the backing of the people the Dollar is worthless all it consist of is green paper. If the lobbyist for wall street win who's to say in 20 years they won't need another bail out of billions of dollars ? and cause massive lay offs like we had in 07 Republicans and Democrats if you aren't part of the solution; then you are part of the problem; enact regulations that will do the job right the first time; not some thing that wastes our time and paper and if you don't have any thing to add to your office then do all of Us tax payers a big favor Quit. right now put your pen down and go home I'm sure we can find some one that will do the job if you can't . Am i mad yes .
