Urge the Senate to Pass Oil Spill Legislation

Urge your senators to support the Clean Energy Jobs and Oil Accountability Act (S. 3663) when they return to Washington, DC this week.


Dear Arnold,

Thousands of animals confirmed dead due to reckless offshore drilling. Birds smothered in oil. Sea turtles, whales and dolphins poisoned by the toxic spill. Pristine habitat fouled by the petroleum.

It’s only a matter of time before it happens again… unless we take action today.

Help save marine wildlife and prevent the next offshore oil disaster. Urge your senators to support the Clean Energy Jobs and Oil Accountability Act (S. 3663) when they return to Washington, DC this week.

The devastating Deepwater Horizon oil disaster has killed thousands of birds, hundreds of endangered and threatened sea turtles and dozens of marine mammals. It has impacted hundreds of miles of coastline and severely damaged the tourism- and fisheries-based economy of the region. The full extent of the environmental and economic impacts may not be known for years.

S. 3663 is critical to address much needed drilling reforms and safeguard our wildlife and wild places. Among other things it will…

Improve offshore drilling management and crisis response.
Guarantee funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund -- an important tool for preserving and restoring habitat in the Gulf and beyond; and
Invest in Home Star -- an energy efficiency program that lowers costs for consumers and creates jobs, while reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.


The U.S. House of Representatives has already taken the lead and passed their version of this bill (CLEAR Act). With so much at stake, it’s time for the Senate to show some leadership on offshore drilling reform, too.

More than 5,300 birds, 550 threatened and endangered sea turtles, 80 dolphins and other marine mammals have been confirmed killed since the Gulf oil disaster began -- and even more have been sickened or injured.

Help save wildlife from another offshore drilling disaster. Please contact your senators today.

But it’s not just wildlife that has been impacted by reckless offshore drilling practices.

Up to 40 percent of the nation’s commercial seafood harvest comes from Gulf Coast fisheries, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The shrimp industry alone accounts for more than $200 million per year in the region.

Coastal communities have seen severe declines in tourism revenues. In Alabama, rental reservations were cancelled and tourism in some coastal areas were down by half.

Speak out for coastal communities and for sea turtles, brown pelicans and other victims of the oil disaster. Take action now.

The oil lobbyists are fighting hard to stop this important bill. Please help us send 35,000 messages to the Senate by the end of the week:

Edit Report What if GeorgeGeorge bush and war criminal Cheney were just the first and we elected a bachmann or pailin and there was a second terrorist attack we already lost the great writt of haevus corpus as i showed you in the Keith olbermann video when the militarily commissions act was passed by the Congress and signed by then president BushBush in either 2006 or 2007.and he said his only regret was then he couldn't privatize social security; if they win in Congress this year the health care law will be repealed. and so will the law that protect us from wall Street and the banks that will be gone to repealed and the only ones we can blame is our selves for being duped into believing that some how this is socialism; or fascism or what ever ism that comes out of the mouth of some wacko job either in Washington or tv or radio. The ones we need to protect arethe small business not the corporations ;the ones that produce VCR And other products small bossiness's that create jobs for the guy's like you and me; even small hotels and motels not just the holiday inns and the motel 6's of the world.But the Republican party are in the pocket of the huge corporations; I E health care the Banks on Wall street and the holiday Inns not the mom and pop companies the one who can't afford to buy them off with campaign conurbation's to keep them in power. and the funniest part of it all is this ; you are cutting yout own throat from ear to ear when you vote in these morons that are in there pockets and Party don't matter. We all have WTF moments it's part of being alive; But remember this too Fool me once shame on YOU; FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME. IT'S YOUR VOTE THAT WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN NOVEMBER MID TERM ELECTION

The difference between Bachmann's "Jim the Election Guy" ads and our "Real Jims" ad serves as a clear contrast between our two candidates themselves. Bachmann doesn't appear in her ads or in her district. While decrying negative campaigning, she uses a paid actor to do hers for her. And just like countless claims Bachmann has made in the last two years, "Jim's" claims repeatedly fail independent truth tests. Meanwhile, real Jims - and voters across the 6th District - are speaking out in support of Tarryl Clark. They want a Representative who will stand with them, not the special interests, and who will make them their first priority.
