Dick Cheney confirms he is a war criminal
Thom plus logo

Draft dodger Dick Cheney has a new book coming out. The man with no pulse is trying to set the record straight about his time in the White House as Vice President - and according to excerpts from the book entitled, "My Time" - which is set to be released next week - Cheney confirms what we all suspected - that he really is that evil. Cheney goes after former Secretary of State Colin Powell for opposing the Iraq War - then rips into Condoleezza Rice - calling her "naïve" for trying to negotiate with the North Koreans.

I guess Cheney would have preferred just bombing them. Cheney, who got five deferments from serving in Vietnam, even admits that back in 2007 - he urged President Bush to launch military strikes against a Syrian nuclear site. Luckily - no one else in the White House agreed with Cheney. Cheney then goes on to praise the use of torture - confirming that he is not only a war criminal - but also a proud war criminal. As for Cheney's thoughts on Bush - he praised him as a "strong and resolute" leader. Go figure.

I say as soon as the book hit shelves next Tuesday - it should immediately be entered into evidence in the war crimes trial against the Bush administration.

Contract for the American dream
We are Rebuilding the American Dream

We're sharing and rating our best ideas for actions people can take to turn the Contract for the American Dream into a reality. Click here to join in:
JOIN

Dear friend,
Over the past month more than a quarter million people have endorsed the Contract for the American Dream. That's a big deal. Progressives are uniting behind a set of real solutions for fixing our broken economy.

We're coming together because the Contract was built by our movement from the ground up. More than 70 outstanding organizations got involved and helped to make it happen. Hundreds of thousands of people took part in crafting the ten-point plan. It's our plan.

But the Contract isn't just an inspiring document. It's a plan to transform our country and it's up to all of us to make it happen. So today we want to open up the door once again and ask for your best ideas for putting the Contract to work.

What are your best ideas for actions people can take to help turn this Contract into a reality?

Submit your best ideas here, and rate ideas from others.

We know that this isn't the way organizations usually run campaigns. But we believe in the brilliance of the American Dream movement more than in any one organization.

It could be that one plank speaks to you and you have a great idea for how to work on it locally. You might want to engage with elected or community leaders to get more people excited about the Contract as a whole. You might have a creative idea about how to use art, music, or video to spread the word.

Over the coming weeks we'll make sure we share the best ideas across our movement and provide the resources and tools so that people just like you can go from inspiration to action as quickly and easily as possible.

Our goal is to see Contract for the American Dream campaigns popping up nationwide in a matter of weeks. From efforts to raise awareness about the Contract itself, to local campaigns on individual Contract planks, to endorsements from community leaders and organizations.

The sky's the limit right now. The more ideas we come up with, the more people who jump in and start spreading the word, the better.

Click here to submit and rate ideas.

Thank you for being a part of, and believing in, this movement.

–Van Jones and the rest of the Rebuild the Dream team

P.S. For a refresher, the Contract for the American Dream consists of a simple but powerful ten-point plan:

I. Invest in America's Infrastructure
II. Create 21st Century Energy Jobs
III. Invest in Public Education
IV. Offer Medicare for All
V. Make Work Pay
VI. Secure Social Security
VII. Return to Fairer Tax Rates
VIII. End the Wars and Invest at Home
IX. Tax Wall Street Speculation
X. Strengthen Democracy

Rock perry's record

Arnold --

Rick Perry has spent a lot of the last two weeks in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina continuing to boast about a so-called "Texas miracle."

Middle-class families in Texas know that's actually a tall tale. In fact, a study published just last week reports that a quarter of Texas kids live in homes with parents who don't know where their next meal will come from -- the worst rate in the country.

When we asked supporters to share their thoughts on Governor Perry last week, hundreds of people stood up to help tell the full story -- will you join them?

Tell us what you think Americans need to know about what Rick Perry has done, or failed to do, as governor over the last 11 years.

Your feedback will help hold him accountable on the campaign trail, inspire fellow Texans to get involved, and introduce his record -- his actual record -- to voters across the country. Your words will remind him that even as he runs, he won't be able to hide -- a lesson he apparently hadn't learned as recently as last week. That's when his campaign explained that the positions he took in the book he wrote just nine months ago, like saying that Social Security is unconstitutional and "a crumbling monument to the failure of the New Deal," no longer represent his views.

But what other Americans are just starting to learn about -- and, frankly, reject -- Texans have dealt with for more than a decade. It's up to us to make sure he doesn't get to run away from the truth.

Weigh in and let us know what you'd most like to see Gov. Perry held accountable for:

http://my.barackobama.com/The-Truth-About-Perry

Thanks, and stay tuned.

- Hector
