Here a thought and idea that would help us the federal government rein in costs ; we spend 65 billion dollars a year on locking up people in prison; wouldn't it make sense if we had a base kinda like gitamo bay that we could let then do there time for more petty crimes not violent crime as soldiers we would give them disipline. and provide them with education so they can find work when there sentence is done so they won't reoffend and wind back up in prison for some thing more violent? check it out for your self www.google.com/prison facts; it would for one thing it would create more room for violent prisoners that need to be watched more closely.it would cost the tax payers less then it does right now; if we trained them and paid them for being a soldier then if we put them behind bars. and we could clear there record if they behave them selfs and do there time we could even teach them a skill that would help them stay out of trouble; and we would have a ready made combat or peace keeping force ready to deploy where ever it became needed. and being around other soldiers drill sargents would give them incentive not to cause trouble. these are 2007 stats.
