On Tuesday, October 19th, Texas' major newspapers will be hosting a debate in Austin between Bill White, Libertarian candidate Kathie Glass and Green Party candidate Deb Shafto. Rick Perry, who has been desperately trying to avoid answering tough questions, is refusing to participate.

Michele Bachmann may be raising big money but we've got something more important: big mo.

Momentum.

As you make decisions about which candidates to support with your time and money over the next 19 days, I want you to consider the following - and if you're ready to help us build on our growing momentum, make a contribution today:

* Our unprecedented grassroots army of volunteers has called or knocked on the doors of over 130,000 voters in the 6th District since April alone. That's amazing considering that just over 300,000 people total are expected to turn out to vote in this election.

* Those voters who first told us they were undecided in the race and have since made up their mind are breaking towards Tarryl by a whopping 2-to-1 margin.

* Big crowds are turning out to see Tarryl everywhere as she travels the district, including over 100 people for last Tuesday's debate in Michele Bachmann's hometown of Stillwater (even though Bachmann herself couldn't find time to attend the debate.)

The grassroots enthusiasm for Tarryl is spreading like wildfire, and today we need you to throw some gas on it.

$15 buys enough literature to last a canvasser one full day of knocking on doors. $40 puts enough gas in our campaign car to get Tarryl across the district and back again. And $75 is enough for us to rent a room for one of our eight upcoming Town Hall Forums.

Let me also say a word about the polls. We don't talk a lot about polling because, frankly, the only 'poll' that matters is the one taken on Election Day. But we are see some very encouraging signs in this race, and I thought you ought to know:

Tarryl is making big gains among women and older voters - the most likely to vote in November - and in key geographic areas throughout the district as well. Michele Bachmann continues to poll under 50% - dangerous ground for any incumbent - and her lead is shrinking every day (despite the fact that she's spent millions of dollars on negative attack ads in an attempt to mislead voters about Tarryl's record).

This isn't happening on its own.

It's happening because of you, and thousands of supporters like you, who have already cast your vote for Tarryl with your time and money. We've been able to hold Bachmann accountable over the airwaves and on the ground because of this grassroots support.

Now is no time to let up. The momentum is on our side - and we need you to help us keep it up.

The Dallas Morning News just revealed that Perry skirted rules and ignored experts in order to give $4.5 million in taxpayer funds to one of his close personal friends and campaign donors.

State offices and economic incentives should not be used as part of a political machine to help out the governor's friends and campaign contributors.

This evening, we'll start running a new ad to make sure Texans know that Rick Perry has put state government up for sale.

A member of another wed site talked about selling off assets to bring down the national debt; but there are thing that we dare not sell National parks are one of those things.getting rid of the E P A would be another that we dare not do if you remember the Love canal fiasco of the 1970s that was caused by a company burring hazardous chemicals into the grown the containers broke and the chemicals seeped into ground water causing people to get sick and some to die. I hope self preservation is one Instinct that you have. Every animal serves and has a purpose that keeps us safe and keeps something else from taking over;like viruses to pests like rats and mice and other things if not kept in check. and wouldn't it be nice to see a coyote out side of a zoo or wolf? If we open all the National park land we may not have those treasures for our kid to see or grand kids to see! And could have lasting effects on our own lives too.YES we are going to die some day but at the pace we are going with the greed and corruption and the damage to do to our planet who knows how long we will be here? And there are things that should be out of bounds no matter what amount of profit they can get. still should be out of bounds. and the people who enforce the laws so we don't poison our selves out they need to be left alone to do there job. the lost of our planet is a lost that goes well beyond any thing we could pay in dollars ;marks; yen; or any money we can create for our selves; once it's gone then there is no tomorrow. and i hope that my grand kids and my great grand kids will be here to read the words of this old lomax and say this was my grandpa; there are 9 planets in our solar system and space is almost endless the new fuels that we are working on that create less carbon is a beginning and creating new ways to dispose of hazardous material including radio active waste is a must before we get to the point of no return once we reach that point we can kiss it good bye.
