Dear Arnold,

Last week, Michele Bachmann took her name-calling to the airwaves with an ad attacking Tarryl and her record. This week, we're telling Minnesotans what they really need to know about Tarryl in a new TV ad.

The ad, called "Need to Know," begins airing later today thanks to the financial support of over 30,000 supporters, and we wanted you to be among the first to see it. Check it out here:

As opposed to Bachmann's attack ads, ours features real people - Tarryl's family, faith leaders, veterans and business leaders who support her and believe that Minnesotans need to know that Tarryl has been standing with and for our communities her whole life. She's one of us.

For over 20 years, Tarryl worked for and led organizations like Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity, which she co-founded, and Minnesota Community Action Partnership. She's active in her church, Rotary and Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered in her sons' schools. In the legislature, she fought for middle class families, and when the state faced a record budget deficit, she put taxpayers first by voluntarily cutting her compensation and pay. That's the kind of leadership we need in Washington.

The contrast between the candidates in this election couldn't be clearer. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has spent her four years defending the special interests and promoting her own agenda at the expense of her constituents who've been left behind to deal with the challenges of a troubled economy on their own.

Tarryl Clark, on the other hand, has dedicated her life to serving others, and has worked hard in the legislature to improve the lives of the people she represents - and all Minnesotans. She's in our communities, she works hard and she's willing to stand up to the special interests who've hijacked Washington.

That's why real voters in the 6th District support Tarryl. And with your continued help and support, that's why she'll be the next Congresswoman from Minnesota's 6th District.

Sincerely,

Zach Rodvold
Campaign Manager
Tarryl Clark for Congress

P.S. - Bachmann is sure to release her next attack this week and is raking in the cash from around the country. Can you help us stay on the air by making a contribution today?

Arnold,
We need a governor who will bring taxpayer money back to Texas schools, instead of sending it away to other states.
Contribute $5 today.

Texas taxpayers are now paying to improve the public education systems in other states because Rick Perry refused to allow Texas to compete for a federal education grant program.

This week, Georgia and North Carolina received $400 million each in federal "Race to the Top" grants, which can be used for projects chosen by each state to promote excellence and innovation in public schools. A total of $4 billion has gone to many states, but not Texas.

We asked Rick Perry to consult with educators, superintendents and school boards before making his decision whether to apply for this federal grant. He didn't, and now it's too late. So much for respect for local government!

As governor, I would involve educators, parents and local school boards in all decisions concerning applications for federal grants.

Please click here to make a contribution of $5 to my campaign. I will bring taxpayer money back to Texas schools, not send it away.

We can do better here in Texas. We need to cut our dropout rates and promote innovation in public education.

That is why my wife Andrea helped co-found the Houston A+ Challenge, which raised over $120 million to improve public schools. I am proud that my oldest son, Will, is teaching in the North Forest Independent School District in Houston.

We need a governor who understands that educators should teach critical thinking, reading and writing so students excel in higher education. These skills have suffered as a result of Perry's emphasis on teaching to multiple choice tests. Meanwhile, our technical and career education alternatives have narrowed for so many students.

If you are tired of a system of "teaching to the test," please make a contribution to move our campaign forward and help elect a new governor.

Since July 1, I have traveled to nearly 70 different Texas counties. Your contribution will help us keep up this pace of campaign activity and allow us to communicate to all Texans that I'm in it for Texas.

Thank you for your support.

Respectfully,

Bill White

Thu, August 26, 2010 3:35:49 PMEvery door counts...From:"Jen O'Malley Dillon, Democrats.org" ...Add to ContactsTo:Arnold schwertman Untitled Document Arnold --

If there's one thing that we learned from 2008, it's that hard-fought elections are won on the ground. On the doorsteps and the phone lines. In face-to-face conversations with friends and neighbors. At house events, where people gather to support a common cause.

That's how we were able to get 15 million people out to vote for the first time in 2008 -- helping us achieve a victory for the President and win majorities in Congress.

And this is just what volunteers will be working to do this weekend in competitive districts across the country: They'll be mobilizing on the ground for our party-wide "Moving America Forward" Day of Action on August 28th -- securing commitments to vote and discussing what's at stake this November.

Our goal is to knock on 200,000 doors in 48 hours -- and we need your help to get it done.

Can you join us? Click here to find an event near you.

It's an ambitious target -- but the doors we'll knock on this weekend aren't simply tally marks. Those doors open into the homes of Americans whose lives will be affected by the outcome of this fall's elections.

Each door presents us with the opportunity to secure these folks' commitment to vote -- and to illustrate how that vote will affect the direction the country takes.

"Moving America Forward" isn't just a catchy name. It's also our larger message heading into the fall, and for good reason.

Democrats aren't just fighting to protect the historic progress we've achieved together -- from health insurance reform to the strongest consumer protections ever put in place -- we're fighting for the opportunity to continue moving forward with reforms that go to work for the American people.

Given the opportunity, Republicans would repeal our historic reforms, taking us backward to BushBush-era policies that work only for special interests and the privileged few. We simply can't let that happen.

This is our chance to make sure it doesn't.

Weekends like this one help us to lay the foundation for victory this fall -- but we can't get folks to show up at the polls unless we first show up on the ground.

I hope you can make it out. Sign up to RSVP for an event today:

Democrats aren't just fighting to protect the historic progress we've achieved together -- from health insurance reform to the strongest consumer protections ever put in place -- we're fighting for the opportunity to continue moving forward with reforms that go to work for the American people.

Given the opportunity, Republicans would repeal our historic reforms, taking us backward to Bush-era policies that work only for special interests and the privileged few.

Going door to door in Texas

Organizing for America
Arnold --

This fall, there's a lot at stake.

For two years, the Republicans have said "no" over and over to legislation that would help Americans -- no to extending unemployment benefits, no to creating jobs, no to the Recovery Act.

But that's not enough -- if the Republicans take back Congress, they've pledged to repeal health insurance reform and pursue policies that would end Social Security and Medicare as we know them.

They're convening in Washington, D.C., with Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin this weekend. Palin has said that the plan for keeping taxes low for the middle class so they can stimulate the economy, while repealing fiscally irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%, is "idiotic." And Beck said last week of some of those who are unemployed, "you'd be ashamed to call them Americans."

These are the folks that the Republican party draws its energy and ideas from. But we have a much better source -- you.

That's why, this weekend, OFA volunteers are going door to door across the country to make sure your voice is heard.

There's an event in Garland this Sunday -- and I hope you can make it.

We're talking to folks in small towns and big cities, focusing on voters who turned out for the first time in 2008 to cast their ballot for Barack Obama.

And we're going to make sure as many as possible of these voters commit to going to the polls again this fall.

We've got an ambitious goal -- 200,000 doors knocked across the country.

But to meet that goal, we need 121 more volunteers in Texas.

Here are the details for the event in Garland:

What: Moving America Forward Day of Action event

Where: 402 Solitude Dr.
Garland, TX 75043

When: Sunday, August 29th
3:00 PM

RSVP

Can't make that event? See if there's another one you can make it to.

You see the progress we're making every day: as new provisions in the Affordable Care Act take effect, as federal funding saves the jobs of police officers and firefighters in Texas, and as the brave men and women of the armed forces return from Iraq.

But to continue this progress, we need to elect Democrats who will stand with the President and fight for change that matters, not Washington Republicans and extreme Tea Party leaders who want to repeal all our hard work.

Join us in Garland to help us reach out to Texas voters about the importance of voting this fall:

Bachmann's Negative Ad - Fight Back Now!

From:

To: Arnold schwertman
Dear Arnold,

Today, Michele Bachmann is airing her first TV ad of the campaign season, and it's no surprise she's gone negative - distorting reality and calling names. Bachmann has no record of accomplishment to run on, so she's resorting to more of the same recycled Republican negative attacks - and putting $239,000 behind them this week alone.

We need you to help us counteract Bachmann's attacks by contributing today!

Make no mistake, thanks to her special interest supporters and right wing activists across the country, Bachmann has big money. And they're going to spend it running a campaign that's straight out of the Karl Rove playbook.

To close the gap with Bachmann and fight back, we need you to donate today.

We need you to help us push back with everything we have. This is truly the test. Our district is the battleground. Michele Bachmann has spent nearly two years pursuing a special interest agenda at the expense of the people of the 6th District - and at the expense of American taxpayers. To put an end to her brand of negative, divisive politics, we must defeat her in November.

Michele Bachmann is on the air. She is on the attack. The time is now. Can Tarryl count on you today?

Sincerely,

Zach Rodvold
Campaign Manager
Friends of Tarryl Clark

P.S. - Michele Bachmann is also launching a carefully staged two-day bus tour of the 6th District this week. We've done over 30 events in 30 days across the district - and we didn't need a bus to do it. Can you contribute $10, $25 or $50 to keep us on the road - and get us back on the air - today?

Months before the 2010 election, John BoehnerJohn Boehner -- the Republican leader in the House -- is launching a full-fledged campaign operation to become the next Speaker of the House. And he's counting on contributions from lobbyists to help pay the bills.

His staffers have established a "Speaker Boehner" committee. They've set up suggested giving levels for lobbyists. Anyone who helps raise $100,000 gets special meetings with the GOP leader, a direct line to a Boehner aide, and the password for a restricted website where they can download "insider briefings."

Protecting the House and keeping John Boehner's hand off the speaker's gavel is a top priority for this election. But we aren't setting up special websites for lobbyists. We aren't counting on special-interest dollars to give us an edge in this campaign.

We're countering that cash with an aggressive campaign funded entirely by people like you. That's why we've launched the By the People Fund to help us reach 3 million grassroots donations before Election Day.

Can you chip in $3 or more to help meet the goal?

To become the next speaker, Boehner has to help the Republicans win 39 seats they don't currently hold.

To ensure that doesn't happen, we're planning the largest voter turnout operation for a midterm election in history. We will knock on more doors, make more calls, and outwork the GOP in every district with a competitive race.

But we need your help to make this happen.

Republicans like Boehner are tearing up the phones, calling in every favor they have to bring in the special-interest cash.

We've made a choice to practice a different kind of politics, and we're counting on support from Americans like you to help us win in November.

Can you chip in $3 or more to the By the People Fund?

well folks i'm just turned 49 today and there still a reason that i get out here and fight; Istill believe in superman truth justice and the American way. Call me nieve or what ever Liberal. but if you look at it we are all fighting for the American way but greed shouldn't be the American way. You tell me ok before Clinton i work at and air conditioning manufacturing company it was hard work. and i had the disire to please doing my job. there quoto at first as 30 an hour but it went up to 60 then 65 and 70 and hour and i got to the point where I couldn't keep up so they added one more person to help me a human being can only do so much. I start to hate being driven like a slave. so i took a course as a truck driver and i passed the course I had a wife and kids at home so i decided that the road wasn't for me; so I came home and got a job first as a temp and then as an extra for the local news paper i only work 2 days a week but every extra shift i could get i took and in 2 years the bumped me up to full time and i stayed on there for 18 years at 39 year old i had an anurism that burst in my skull. luckly i had Edna thought my Employerand it paid 250k to patch me up. but they wouldn't give me disability so i had to go back to work i still had debts to pay and to kids at that time teenagers so back to work i went like a soldier back to war and the trenches Iwasn't as fast as i was befrore before the anurism. I used to load truck on of a belt and that would keep you in shape i got to the poit where iI could load trucks by my self so i was pretty fast one day I was working on the mail table and they had 4 temorarys loading plastic skids and i guess there were new at it and they got behind so i put down't a skid and told them that I'll unload the line still you catch upand i started to load the skid i put down and the teps saw me load and there jaws dropped but i had over 15 years experance doing that but i told them to catch up. every body needs a little help from time to time and it's not in your best interest to drive them like slaves.even the best hardest working guy hates to be driven. it doesn't mean that they don't want to work it might mean that they lack experience and need time

well folks i'm just turned 49 today and there still a reason that i get out here and fight; Istill believe in superman truth justice and the American way.

Election Day is November 2nd -- and early voting in many states begins well before that.

That means we have less than three months to finish the work necessary to maintain our majorities in Congress, protect the progress we've made, and lay the groundwork for more change.

On Sunday, August 22nd, OFA volunteers like you are getting together in Mesquite to help build momentum and get folks to commit to vote.

Can you join us?

Here's what we're doing in Mesquite:

What: OFA volunteer voter-contact event

Where: Elizabeth Walley's House

1112 Siebold Court

Mesquite, TX 75150

When: Sunday, August 22nd

1:00 pm

If you can't make that event, click here to find another event near you.

We have all fought for and achieved so much together -- including sweeping reforms of the health care system and Wall Street -- and we need to make sure we preserve those victories and keep fighting for more change.

Don't worry if you don't have prior organizing experience -- OFA volunteers or staff will be on hand to answer questions and help walk you through the process.

Please RSVP now to join us in Mesquite:

Thanks for all you do,

Jeremy

Jeremy
