Sat, August 14, 2010 5:00:36 AMAn anniversary to remember...From:"Barry Jackson, AARP" ...Add to ContactsTo:texas_long_horn2005@yahoo.com

Dear Arnold,

For 75 years, Social Security has allowed older Americans to live with pride and independence in their own homes. It's put new clothes on the children of injured factory works, and dinner on the table of families who lost a parent. It's been a sacred promise to millions of Americans.

As we celebrate this important date, it seems like all the talk in Washington is about budget cuts and numbers, not the people who rely on Social Security every day. But we know Social Security is more than a figure on a balance sheet.

That's why today, the 75th anniversary of Social Security, Congress needs to hear from you.

Help protect Social Security for the next generation – click here to send our 75th Anniversary eCard to your member of Congress TODAY!

Remind Congress what Social Security is really about.

Click here to send our eCard TODAY!

From providing a grandfather with critical diabetes medication to making sure a mother on disability can put dinner on the table for her kids, Social Security is a lifeline for the most vulnerable Americans.

Now it’s up to us to make sure our children and grandchildren have the same sense of security.

We need to remind Congress that Social Security is about people, not numbers – and that no matter what the president’s deficit commission recommends in December, we’re counting on them to protect Social Security benefits for generations to come.

So today, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Social Security, will you join us in reminding Congress why it’s so important to protect these benefits by sending them our anniversary card?

Click here to send our special Social Security eCard to your member of Congress.

With your help, I know we can keep Social Security strong for another 75 years.

Sincerely,

Barry Jackson

Senior Manager, Grassroots
